One to Watch – Eagle Farm

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday December 27

When a Spirit of Boom two year-old wins on debut at this time of the year in Queensland you automatically think Magic Millions, but having not gone through a sale this girl is not eligible, however she may have bigger fish to fry as her career unfolds if pedigree and her breeder are anything to judge by.

Trained by Joshua King, Time to Cry is a homebred for Steve Tregea of Windermere Stud, who bred and raced one of the best Queensland gallopers of recent years in $5.7million earner Incentivise and this filly is from the same family.

She produced a thoroughly tenacious effort on debut, refusing to give in and taking a long head win in the 1000m juvenile maiden over the favourite Mishani Express.

Time to Cry is the first foal for Flaunt, a two time winning full sister to stakes-winner Bergerac from blue hen Miss Argyle and is also a half-sister to triple Group I winner and Caulfield Cup hero Incentivise, Group III winner and exciting young sire Adrossan and stakes-winner Cheyenne Warrior.

It’s an interesting pedigree with close double ups of Danehill (USA), Last Tycoon (IRE) and Queensland favourite Semipalatinsk (USA).

Steve Tregea obviously has faith in it as Flaunt is married to Spirit of Boom and has two colts to follow and is back in foal to him again.

The Breednet family search shows the Miss Argyle family three times for upcoming sales and you can see them here
