Bright Future for So You Think Debutante

Craig Tompson - Tuesday April 28

Before today only three horses by So You Think had made a winning debut over 1000m, including Group One winner La Diosa, so the future looks bright for Kembla Grange winner Peltzer which is now the fourth.

Peltzer's yearling shotTrained by Gerald Ryan, the two-year-old colt was given as much time to find his feet as rider Jay Ford could afford before sustaining a determined effort to overpower the field in the final stages.

At the 200m mark he was no good thing but on the line he’d put over a length on them as he kept working strongly through the line in the manner of a horse that is obviously going to be much better over longer than this trip.

Peltzer was a $260,000 purchase for Ryan along with David Raphael at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale and becomes another promising one to come off South Australia’s Mill Park Stud.

He is out of the Elusive Quality mare Miss Otto, a half-sister to the stakes paced Miss With Attitude and Oui Si Attitude from a family with plenty of strong European middle distance and staying performers.

Peltzer becomes the first winner from four foals to race for his dam who has been to the well twice again since with a filly foal by So You Think on the ground and returning to him again last season.
